Our Commitment to Helping Drone Pilots Understand and Comply with Remote ID

The FAA’s deadline for beginning enforcement of the Remote ID rule is this Saturday, March 16, 2024. Remote ID went into effect on September 16, 2023, but enforcement was pushed back six months to allow drone pilots who were unable to comply with the broadcast requirements more time to equip their aircraft.

With the FAA’s Remote ID enforcement deadline just days away, UAV Coach underscores the critical need for compliance and education to ensure continued safety and growth in the U.S. drone industry.

“Remote ID is a major step forward for the U.S. drone industry,” says Mike McGuirt, Director of Customer Success at UAV Coach. “The FAA estimates there will be approximately 500,000 recreational drones and close to a million drones used for commercial purposes in the U.S. by the end of this year—and Remote ID is the first step to help keep our skies safer as they get more congested. Any drone that must be registered must also comply with Remote ID.”

Since 2015, UAV Coach has been committed to providing high-quality training, resources, and education for drone pilots. When the FAA rolled out the Part 107 rules in 2016, UAV Coach immediately launched an online test prep course to help drone pilots get ready for the Part 107 test. And when the FAA launched the TRUST for recreational flyers in 2021, UAV Coach was one of the first companies to provide the training.

Remote ID presents a milestone for the drone industry that is just as significant as the Part 107 rules and the TRUST, and UAV Coach is committed to helping both commercial and recreational pilots adhere to the new rule.

“UAV Coach has been dedicated to educating drone pilots for over eight years,” says Brad Tucker, CEO of UAV Coach. “As the U.S. drone ecosystem continues to evolve, we’re sticking by our commitment to providing the best training, education, and resources possible to help pilots fly safely and legally.”

In an effort to help drone pilots comply with the Remote ID rule, UAV Coach hosted an informational webinar on Friday, February 23. The presentation included detailed information on how to comply with the Remote ID rule, including steps for Remote ID registration for both recreational flyers and commercial drone pilots.
