FPV Drone Footage of a Race Car Driving inside a Casino

Formula1 goes to Vegas - Red Bull f1

This high octane video shot by Johnny FPV for Oracle Red Bull Racing starts with drone footage of a race car and off-road truck driving at high speeds through the Nevada desert, then transitions to Las Vegas, where another race car zooms through the floors of a casino. Featuring steep dives and shots of Formula 1 cars doing high-speed donuts and racing through the streets of the iconic city, the footage was shot to promote the inaugural Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix. DJI Mini 4 Appears in IMDA Database, Signaling Launch Is Close

Leaks have been pouring out lately about the DJI Mini 4, a drone no one expected to see come out this year, or even had on their radar until about a month ago. Now, after all these leaks, it looks like we have official confirmation that DJI will soon be putting out a fourth iteration of the Mini: the Mini 4 has appeared in the IMDA database. IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) is Singapore’s government agency focused on developing and regulating the “infocomm and media sectors.”

Drone Light Show Celebrates Record Attendance at Nebraska Volleyball Women’s Game

The University of Nebraska—Lincoln women’s volleyball team recently set a world record for highest attendance ever at a women’s sporting event. On August 30, 92,003 people were in attendance at the team’s game against the University of Nebraska—Omaha, which took place in Lincoln’s outdoor Memorial Stadium. The previous world record was 91,648 people at a Champions League soccer match, which was held in Barcelona, Spain last year. To celebrate the new world record, the Huskers put on a giant drone light show over the stadium—take a look in the video above.

Skydio Announces Ascend Event for Commercial Drone Operations

Skydio will soon be hosting an event for commercial drone pilots called Ascend. Sessions will take place virtually, with a select group of people attending in person. (In-person attendance is invite only—you can ask to be invited here.) According to Skydio, the event will focus on “advancing the future of drones and AI-enabled autonomous flight.” Attendees will be able to ask questions of leaders in autonomous drone technology, and talk tracks will focus on Public Safety, Transportation & Construction, and Energy Utilities. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 20. Given Skydio’s recent announcement that it will only be selling drones to enterprise customers, this event can be seen as a kickoff to its new focus on these industries and the company’s pivot away from consumer sales.

Embry-Riddle Chosen by U.S. State Department to Train Drone Operators

The U.S. State Department has tapped Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to help it create curriculum and online training materials for its drone pilots working in the Office of Aviation (also called the Air Wing) division of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. Through this partnership, the university will design and administer a standardized training program that could potentially be used not only by the Air Wing, but also by other government employees, law enforcement entities, and civil aviation authorities all over the world.
