DJI Releases Two New Drones for Agriculture

Even though DJI just launched three products in a row—the last one being the much-anticipated Mavic 3—it’s not slowing down. The company recently released not just one but two drones focused solely on agriculture, the Agras T20P and the Agras T40. The T40 has an enhanced spreading capacity of 110 pounds and a souped-up spraying capacity of 88 pounds (the T30 had a spreading capacity of 77 pounds and a spraying capacity of 66 pounds), allowing it to spray pesticides over a 320-acre field in just an hour. The T20P is a smaller, more compact ag drone that comes with a spreading capacity of 55 pounds and a spraying capacity of 44 pounds. Right now both drones are only available in China, but we anticipate that they’ll be sold in the U.S. eventually as well.

The aerial viewpoint in this footage of blue whales swimming in the ocean showcases the utter immensity of this incredible creature. Swimming alongside a boat in the opening shot, we see that the whale is about four to five times the boat’s size, so big that it seems almost otherworldly. The drone footage, combined with the haunting instrumental music, make for a stirring video. Even if you only have a minute or two, it’s well worth watching the opening to see this beautiful creature swimming in its element. The video was made by YouTuber DolphinDroneDom, who has a lot of other incredible oceanic drone footage on his channel—follow the link below to take a look.

Congress Votes to Support Drone Taxi Industry

The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed a bipartisan bill to support the nascent Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry. The new law directs the U.S. Department of Transportation to create an interagency working group that will investigate various aspects of AAM, including safety, infrastructure, physical security, cybersecurity, and federal investment. The legislation is a further signal that drone taxis are coming, and that people are taking them seriously. Last week, Hyundai announced the launch of its own AAM company, Supernal, and many other companies have been getting into the taxi drone game over the last few years, with hundreds of millions being invested in the development of AAM technology and supporting infrastructure.
