Stunning Cinematic Video Shot by the Mavic 3
This video shot on the Mavic 3 would be worth watching for the magical shots of hot air balloons featured in the first 30 seconds alone. Timelab Pro published this video a little over a year ago, right around when the Mavic 3 had just launched. To make the video, the Timelab Pro team filmed with two groups in five locations covering three different countries—Turkey, Russia, and the UAE—all at the same time. Though it’s less than three minutes long, the video takes us on a journey of locations, including shots of cityscapes, surfing, and a whale breaching the surface of the ocean.

3D Model Fly through from a Cement Plant Made with the Elios 3
Flyability’s Elios 3 comes with a LiDAR sensor, allowing users to create 3D models of the environments in which it flies. This 3D fly through from the Elios 3 was made in a silo at a cement plant. The model and corresponding LiDAR data can help inspectors understand what the interior of the silo looks like for inspection purposes, and it can also help them to calculate the amount of material present in the silo. Without a drone, this data would have to be collected in person, by an inspector standing on a rickety platform 80 feet in the air and sticking a pole into the material.

New Skydio Dock Supports Fully Autonomous Data Collection

Wondering what a real self-flying drone looks like? This video shows the Skydio 2+ taking off and landing back in Skydio’s new Skydio Dock, a charging station for Skydio’s drones that allows them to be present on site for constant monitoring. Once inside the Dock, the drone can upload the data it collected while flying, which of course is the key thing you’d want from an autonomous drone. Skydio launched the Dock earlier this month. Assuming companies can actually use it—a regulatory question that may only be answered on a case-by-case basis—the Skydio Dock could be a powerful solution for inspections and monitoring at many different kinds of industrial sites.

Zipline Will Make Nation-Wide Deliveries in Rwanda

Zipline recently announced a new agreement with the country of Rwanda to triple its medical drone deliveries there, bringing coverage to the entire country. While Zipline initially started deliveries in Rwanda with blood, they’re now delivering medicine, medical supplies, nutrition, and animal health products, with plans to expand into financial, e-commerce, and tourism industries. New Zipline delivery sites in Rwanda will include both rural and urban locations, as well as opening up the company’s delivery services to other government entities in the country. As part of the new agreement, Zipline will make almost two million instant deliveries and fly more than 124 million autonomous miles (200 million kilometers) in Rwanda by 2029.

AgEagle Announces Upcoming Launch of eBee Vision Drone

AgEagle recently announced that it will be launching a new drone in 2023 called the eBee Vision. The Vision’s focus will be on intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, providing “sensor payloads capable of detecting, tracking, and geo-locating objects in both day and night conditions.” In terms of specs, it will have an impressive 90 minutes of flight time, a 12 mile transmission range, a camera with 32x zoom, and a thermal sensor for high-quality thermal data. The Vision will join eBee’s existing fleet of high end commercial drones, which includes the eBee X, eBee GEO, and eBee TAC.
