DJI recently rolled out firmware updates for all of the drones in the Mavic 3 series.

The first round of updates came for the enterprise drones in the series—the Mavic 3 Enterprise, Thermal, and Multispectral. These were followed just a few days later by updates for the Mavic 3 Classic, Mavic 3 Pro, and both Standard and Cine.

The biggest addition in the new round of updates for the Mavic 3 (this includes the Classic, Pro, Standard, and Cine) is the addition of Vision Assist.

Vision Assist is a new safety feature that provides omnidirectional obstacle sensing, helping the drone anticipate obstacles in all directions while in flight. The new feature helps by easily spotting potential obstacles, providing assistance for navigating movements like circling or pulling away, and retaining a forward view during high-angle shots.

When using Vision Assist, you’ll get a yellow or red warning lights when the drone is getting close to obstacles. One thing to note about this new feature is that it does reduce video transmission to 720p, which can result in a slightly blurrier camera view.

The updates DJI recently rolled out apply both to Mavic 3 drones and to controllers and apps that are used with the Mavic 3, including:

  • Aircraft Firmware: v01.00.1200
  • RC-N1 Remote Controller Firmware: v04.13.1000
  • DJI RC Remote Controller Firmware: v01.03.0500
  • DJI RC Pro Remote Controller Firmware: v03.02.0500
  • DJI Fly App iOS: v1.11.4
  • DJI Fly App Android: v1.11.4

Here’s what’s new in these updates:

  • Added Vision Assist.
  • Added AR Home Point, AR Return-to-Home Route, and AR Aircraft Shadow.
  • Added Vision Positioning and Obstacle Sensing switch.
  • Fixed some minor bugs.

For the Mavic 3E and Mavic 3T updates, the biggest one to call out is a new Find My Drone feature. Using Find My Drone, you can get the most recent location data for your drone in case you leave it behind or lose it during an unexpected landing. (Other DJI drones have had Find My Drone for a while, but now these two have it as well.)

The new firmware update for both models is version 07.01.10.03 version. For the remote controller, the corresponding update is v02.01.00.03.

Here are the other upgrades that come with the latest Mavic 3E and Mavic 3T firmware updates:

  • Added ability to view the downloaded photos and videos in Album when the aircraft is disconnected.
  • Added ability to import unlocking licenses offline.
  • Added Fixed Angle Shot for waypoint actions. You can set the gimbal pitch, aircraft orientation, and camera zoom.
  • Optimized the firmware compatibility of the remote controller to avoid abnormality caused by firmware downgrade.
  • Optimized Payload SDK to provide more secondary development functions.
  • Optimized some of the DJI Pilot 2 information such as prompts.
  • Fixed known issues to improve user experience.
