This week we’re covering recent leaks of the Matrice 3D, a new industrial drone from DJI that will be the latest addition to the Matrice series of commercial models.

We’re also covering UAV Coach’s new Drone Fails Challenge, an aerial tour of the Faroe Islands shot on the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine, a video guide we made to help you get started with drone photography, and two new agriculture drones from DJI hitting the FCC database.

Now let’s get to those links!

Leaks Reveal Mystery Drone Is the DJI Matrice 3D

Recently rumors started flying around after a large commercial drone appeared alongside leaks of a prototype of the DJI Mini 4 Pro. The large drone didn’t have foldable arms, and it was only called an “industrial drone” in the leaks. Now it looks like we know what that drone is—the DJI Matrice 3D. New leaks show that the 3D is a smaller Matrice drone with an attached RTK module, and that it comes with a tri-camera system similar to the one found on the Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal. This means it will have a wide camera, a zoom camera, and a thermal camera.

Touring the Faroe Islands with the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine

DJI Mavic 3 PRO - Faroe Islands

Wondering what the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine is capable of? See for yourself in this cinematic tour of the Faroe Islands shot by YouTube creator James Matthews. The Faroe Islands sit off the coast of western Europe, about 200 miles from Scotland and 360 miles from Norway—in fact, Iceland is actually closer to the Islands than Norway, at a distance of just 270 miles. The Faroe Islands are full of green, rugged peaks, with dramatic vistas and sudden cliffside drops straight down to the ocean. Matthews captures all of this and more in his video. About shooting with the Mavic 3 Cine, Matthews said, “This thing is bonkers with 3 lenses, 24mm, 70mm and a 166mm, I’m absolutely Loving that 70mm.”

Two DJI Agriculture Drones Hit the FCC Database

DJI’s Agras T50 and Agras T25 came out in China last year. Now, it looks like they’re getting ready to hit the U.S. market. Both drones were recently filed with the FCC, a step that’s typically taken shortly before a product will be released. The two drones are the successors to the Agras T40 and Agras T20, and have proven themselves in Chinese markets as powerful tools for aerial field and tree spraying, and for spreading fertilizer from the air. The T50 has a spreading capacity of 110 pounds (50 kilograms) or a spraying load of 88 pounds (40 kilograms). The T25 is smaller, with a spreading capacity of 55 pounds (25 kilograms) or a spraying load of 44 pounds (20 kilograms). The drones aren’t out yet, but you can learn more about DJI’s agriculture offerings by following the link below.
